Oh how I miss you, a poem

Oh how I miss you...

in the quiet, in the noise,

in the space where your laugh used to live.

The world was getting bigger, once.

Now it's just... small.

And I'm learning to carry both.

Not worse today.

That's what I tell myself,

that's what I hold onto.

Oh how I miss you...

in the ordinary things,

the ones that don't know how to sit beside this weight.

I rebuild, slowly,

room by room,

leaving space I don't know how to fill.

Oh how I miss you.

Still. Always.

More than these words can hold.
